er kendt for sine flotte vokalharmonier og numre som "Along comes Mary", "Windy", "Cherish", "Never my love".

The Assosciation blev dannet på baggrund af et møde mellem Terry kirkman og Jules Alexander på Honolulu i hawaii i 1964.

I 1965 mødtes de igen i Los Angeles, hvor de arbejdede sammen i forskellige sammenhænge inden for musikbranchen.

Efterhånden fik de samlet en folk-rock gruppe, som i starten var på 13 medlemmer, men blev efterhånden reduceret til 5 medlemmer, som senere blev til The Association.

I foråret 1965 fik gruppen deres første pladekontrakt med Bob Dylan Nummeret "One too many mornings", som blev et "lokalt" hit. Nummeret blev efterfulgt af "Along comes Mary" også i 1965, som blev en hitliste sællert i hele 1966 og var med til at skabe gruppens ry for unikke harmonier.

Sidst i 1966 kom opfølgeren "Cherish" (som også blev et hit for the Four Tops). Gruppen blev ved at producere hits og kom i 1967 med hittet "never my love".

I 1968 kom albummet "Birthday" med yderligere 2 hits - Everything that touches you" og Time for livin`".

Gruppen fik flere mindre hits, men i 1970 var der stilstand i gruppen, som var ved at falde fra hinanden. I 1973 var det slut med den solide karriere, selvom et af gruppens medlemmer videreførte navnet Association  i 3 år med skiftende besætning.

Gruppen blev genforenet i 1979 som " The original Association" og havde op i firserne nogle mindre hits. Bland andet nåede gruppen at indspille en flot version af "Darling be home soon", oprindelig skrevet af John Sebastian til gruppen "Lovin Spoonful".                                                                                                                                                   Home
